Digestibles part 2

Food we miss from home and don't see here...

Good Beer.

Curry.

Fish n Chips.

Tea. Not Iced or Fruity.

Pasatta. I just can't find it.

Squash (eg Robinsons etc). None here at all.

Vimto. It gets a mention all to itself cos its ace.

Cottage cheese (so says V)

Marmite.

Bovril.

Fry's Chocolate creme.

Cadbury's Twirl.

Fairtrade anything. And we thought Canadians cared.

VIMPTO, strange but I grew up on it. It was the start of a lifetime of pursuing good pubs,as a young pup my grandad would take me to the pub on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings and ply me with Vimpto and Smiths crisps with the little blue bag os salt which was always at the bottom of the bag,you then opened it and gave the bag a goos shake.I recall Iwas about 4 years of age when this began.cafe's and coffee houses never had the same appeal as the pub.Of course i could never go inside Grandad always found a pub with a garden of sorts and came out of the side door with the goodies and to check on me and my cousin.Getting inside the mystery door was always an ambition ( never aspired to very much) and when I did, the rest is history

Cottage Cheese, unless I'm mistaken I've got some in my fridge, and it was purchased in Linden (that means it's as common as dirt)

As for fair trade (I'll have to research that) Is it possible that it's just window dressing put on your products? Is it also possible that many of our products come from the same source of HIGH moral standards but can't afford the label space without removing some french.

Russ,
you CYNIC.
Fairtrade marks are earned, and don't come easy or cheap.
People who bother to get them do so because they value what they stand for and they are proud to be part of the solution, not the problem.
You will see more of them in the marketplace here when producers see that consumers value fairtrade and are prepared to pay a tiny bit more to do something a whole lot better.

You're right about the cottage cheese though! Just not looking for it, I guess. If i'm honest, that was more V than me.

Black Sheep. Nice.

All areas of the world should be shown thw wonders of real beer, then told they can only buy it if they

a) Live in England.
b) Have a british passport.
c) Have a letter signed by someone who satisfies a or b.

I'm thinking this on a purely selfish level. I wouldn't want to run out.

Enjoying half term here, still doing new-house things so only going away for a few nights; visiting parents, Lake District, etc.

We're evry jealous of your adventures.

Keith & Jo

P.S. Managed to stop Jo watching Dirty Dancing last night (I got to watch Snooker!) there was a program on later about the amazing-ness of DD. Apparently there are many videos on yuotube of wedding couples who had "I've had..." as there first dance. Do the lift, DO THE LIFT!
